Finally Free…A Client Testimony…For twenty-six years, I lived in shame, guilt, and bondage for a decision that I made to abort my baby when I was seventeen years old.  I kept the secret to myself over the expanse of years, sharing my grief with no one.  In my private pain, I thought I was the only woman who heard her unborn baby crying.  I suffered depression several times a year and experienced blank spots in the memory.  A friend urged me to seek healing from this pain, and a message at my church confirmed it.  I sought help at A Hope Center, and God’s plan for me has been perfectly clear ever since.  The post-abortion Bible study has been so very healing while increasing my knowledge and passion for God’s Word.  I always knew that God had forgiven me of my sin; now, I was able to forgive myself.  The group process allowed me to release my feelings of isolation as everyone shared in my sorrow for what I had lost and also shared in my joy as I came to know Christ with a renewed passion.  The scripture lessons, exercises, and the exchanging of joys and sorrows were incredibly powerful.  I now feel renewed, and I am hopeful that God will somehow use my pain and my journey of healing for His will; I want to be a servant.  There were many times that I felt unsure and scared, but I learned to trust God and my leaders, and I was rewarded with healing “It will be OK!”  I am ever grateful to A Hope Center and Lisa, Joy, and Janet for their mission and passion to heal the wounds of others like myself.  I pray that in return, God will use me just as abundantly.  The next FORGIVEN AND SET FREE Post-abortion Bible study will begin in August (dates to be announced).  Please contact Lisa Davis at A Hope Center Southwest, Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays, at 969-6633 for more information.  All calls are strictly confidential.

Trial Using Adult Stem Cells Could Result In Cure For Type 1, Juvenile, Diabetes…A national trial involving adult stem cells could lead to a cure, or at least a treatment for Type 1 diabetes, also called juvenile diabetes. Last week, 21-year-old Jeff Spindler, who deals with the effects of the condition, received his third and final injection of what could be adult stem cells at the University of Kentucky Hospital. He is a participant in a national trial sponsored by Osiris Therapeutics, a company based in Maryland. Researchers are trying to determine whether injected adult stem cells can repair tissue damage and help the body produce insulin. Spindler won’t find out for two years whether the injections he has been receiving contain stem cells or placebos. The study is double-blind, so even Spindler’s physicians don’t know which he’s getting. The trial tests a substance called Prochymal, which contains donated adult stem cells, not embryonic stem cells. The Prochymal injections contain mesenchymal stem cells, bone-marrow cells that repair tissue damage, Karounos told the Herald Leader newspaper. Now that Spindler has received his last injection, Karounos and other researchers will continue to monitor his health closely for the next two years. Spindler said he hasn’t felt much different after the treatments, but he is hopeful the outcome will be good. “I wanted to help them out and help find a cure if possible,” Spindler said. Ten Years Later, “Choose Life” License Plates Still Going Strong…Florida was the first state to offer a “Choose Life” license plate.  Ten years later, similar plates are available in 24 states and have generated more than $10 million for adoption agencies, pregnancy centers and other pro-life causes.  They are available in Indiana.  For information, call Vicki Layman at 432-6720.

Pro-Life Prayer Requests…There have been at least 53,382,692 abortions since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court Decision on January 22, 1997.  Other life-destroying ideas are being advocated and practiced including euthanasia, assisted suicide, infanticides, embryonic stem cell research, and cloning.  Please pray for the spread of a culture of life in our country where all human life is valued.

A Hope Center 2008 Report…Ultrasound Clients Choosing Life…Clients receiving ultrasounds—193 all clients receiving ultrasound services are at risk for abortion.  Ultrasound clients having known abortions—3.  Ultrasound clients with unknown outcomes—11 over time, favorable outcomes are often revealed in this category.  Ultrasound clients choosing LIFE – 179 (93%).
